What is Float Therapy?
What to Expect
When you book your appointment, you will be sent a video to preview before your arrival. This will give you an overview of the float experience and some tips on how to help yourself relax and get the most out of your float session. On the day of your float, a member of our staff will have you complete some paperwork and give you a brief orientation of the float room and pod. We want to be sure you are comfortable with the controls and procedures, and that you understand how you can customize the sound, light and pod lid to make you feel most at ease. After showering, you are free to relax for an entire hour! When your float session ends, you’ll be alerted to slowly exit the pod. You will have 15 minutes to shower, dry and dress. You can then proceed to our vanity room to dry your hair, moisturize and complete your own make-up routine. Finally, relax in our lounge area with a cup of herbal tea, or take one for the road!

What if I am claustrophobic?
Is the water sanitary?
Very! The water in each pod goes through a four-part sanitation process between each use. The main 10 micron filter is capable of filtering debris in the water as small as 1/4 the size of the diameter of a human hair. Water is also pumped through a UV light array, eliminating any micro-organisms that survive the extreme salt content of the water. Also, Hydrogen Peroxide and other natural enzymes are added as part of our daily cleaning process. The water is many times more sanitary than a swimming pool or spa. The surface of the pod is thoroughly wiped down with an antibacterial cloth before each use.
What is Epsom salt?
Epsom salt, or magnesium sulfate, is a chemical compound containing magnesium, sulfur, and oxygen. Combined with water, it raises the water’s specific gravity, resulting in a dense solution in which a body can float effortlessly. Epsom salt has been proven to be highly absorbable by the skin resulting in countless benefits to the body including detoxification, strengthening of the immune system, heightened endorphin release, and relief from physical, mental, and emotional stress and fatigue. Am I in danger of drowning if I fall asleep?
People who float are often so relaxed they fall asleep. Since your body is completely buoyant, in only 10-12 inches of water, there is no danger of drowning. If desired, a soft foam ring can be placed under your head to offer extra support during your float. When the float session is over, you will be gently alerted or awakened by a recorded message and the sound of the filtration system beginning. You can safely exit the pod while the filtration system begins.
Is there any reason why I can’t float?
Are there specific concerns for women?
Menstruation: Floating during a menstruation cycle can be handled just as entering a swimming pool. It is not recommended during the days of heaviest flow, but is otherwise perfectly safe. Please use the same precautions you would use for swimming during a menstrual cycle. Feel free to reschedule your float appointment if necessary for this reason.
What should I wear during a float?
We recommend you wear nothing to maximize your float experience. However, if you feel more comfortable wearing a bathing suit, you are welcome to. Please take extra care to rinse thoroughly in the shower before entering the float pod to avoid disrupting the water balance with detergents.
What is provided and what should I bring?
A towel, wash cloth, shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided in your private pod and shower space. We also provide a foam head ring for neck support, ear plugs and vaseline for small scratches or cuts. If you wear contact lenses, we recommend bringing solution and a case to remove your contacts during your float. After your float and shower, you may use our vanity area, which is equipped with a hair dryer, hair spray, lotion and cotton swabs. You should bring your own brush or comb and any other hair care and beauty products you desire for your personal routine.
